Voter Guide

This is an attempt to put both presidential candidate's information concerning Hunting, Fishing and Gun Rights in an easily accessible Format.

I make no endorsements.  I make no statement about the veracity of their words.  I just found the links, you make up your mind.

His official gun control stance is buried under "other issues" and "crime" here

John McCain's 2nd Amendment page  I saw nothing about hunting or fishing in the McCain website.  If you find something, email me.

Of course there is this picture, which I think is cool:

But there is some evidence that she may not be that much of a friend to us after all.

Personally, when I read "Barack Obama did not grow up hunting and fishing", that gives me a little pause.  On the other hand, it is refreshing honesty.  One of the most disgusting things I have ever seen was rabid anti-gun John Kerry in his brand new LL Bean outfit "hunting" the week of the 2004 election and talking about crawling through the bushes after deer.  I like everything Mr. Obama does say in that document about supporting our hunting and fishing rights.  I think it is interesting that it is harder to find his statement on gun control.

It is clear that Mr. Obama views gun control as being crime control.  I am particularly puzzled as to his opposition to legal concealed weapons permits.  Have I missed something about some wave of crime by legal carriers of handguns?  Also, Mr. Obama, my guns ARE childproof, unless that child can drill a safe.  I believe in holding adult gun owners responsible for children getting their guns.

McCain's statements are good, for what they say, but hunting and fishing rights are as important to me as gun rights.  I like that Sarah has been fishing and Moose hunting, but if she indeed is willing to destroy a fishery, she is in the same category of hypocrisy as Kerry.

I tried to make this balanced, to give you quick access to the information that we need to know about the candidates and their stands on our sports.  I just found the links, I make no statement as to if I believe their words or not.  I also am not going to "endorse" or "oppose" anyone.  Make up your own mind.

Of course there is a lot more to think about this year and the choice we have.  I hope each and every one of you makes an informed choice, but above all VOTE.  Don't think that the politicians don't look at who votes.  Hunting and fishing issues would be front and center if more of us voted.
